An unofficial native Home Assistant integration for the Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub and compatible built-in Weber Connect controllers. Current release: v3.0.5 (August 3, 2026).
This project has moved on from the original 2.1 add-on. Version 3.0+ is a HACS custom integration: no add-on container, MQTT broker, separate control panel, or Weber account password is required.
Features:
- Automatic Bluetooth discovery through Home Assistant local adapters and active ESPHome Bluetooth proxies.
- Physical-confirmation pairing. Approval happens on the Weber hardware, not in the Weber app. On a standalone Smart Grilling Hub, wake it, wait for all four probe indicators to light, then press down once on the top/display within 60 seconds. On a grill controller, press its dial or confirmation control when prompted.
- Native probe entities: Probe 1 and Probe 2 are the baseline; Probe 3 and Probe 4 appear only when the controller reports them. A built-in Grill temperature entity appears when that sensor is available. Connection and Last successful update provide transport context.
- Phone + Home Assistant is the default: Home Assistant receives read-only Weber Cloud telemetry while the Weber app can keep its Bluetooth connection. Home Assistant only uses one local Bluetooth connection through Home Assistant’s adapter or an active ESPHome proxy.
- Stable slot-based entity IDs, with probe state, type, and battery as attributes. Routine sleep and disconnects recover quietly.
- Read-only telemetry; recipes, controls, target temperatures, and timers are not exposed.
Install
- In HACS, open Integrations → ⋮ → Custom repositories.
- Add
https://github.com/ProspectOre/weber-connect-unofficialas category Integration. - Download Weber Connect Unofficial, restart Home Assistant, then open Settings → Devices & services and select the discovered hub or Add integration → Weber Connect Unofficial.
- During initial setup, close the Weber app and turn off Bluetooth on phones/tablets that use it. The hub must be online in Weber Cloud and Home Assistant needs internet access, even if you plan to select Home Assistant only afterward.
- Approve Home Assistant on the physical hub as described above. After setup, turn Bluetooth back on and reopen the Weber app.
Replacing the old 2.1 add-on
This is a clean migration, not an in-place upgrade. In the old panel, use Forget This Hub, then stop and uninstall the add-on. If an old unavailable MQTT device remains, remove its retained discovery records and delete that MQTT device. The add-on and MQTT broker are not needed by 3.0+.
Requirements
- Home Assistant 2026.7.0 or newer.
- HACS until the integration is accepted into Home Assistant.
- A connectable Home Assistant Bluetooth adapter or an active ESPHome Bluetooth proxy with an available connection slot.
- Home Assistant internet access and a hub already online in Weber Cloud during initial setup.
Compatibility and validation
Testing covers a Weber Connect Hub on firmware 2.0.3_7398, Home Assistant Yellow on Home Assistant 2026.7.2, the Weber app 2.10.0.2439, and an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy on 2026.7.0. The Weber Performer Deluxe Smart 57 (also sold as the Performer Premium Smart) has also been community-verified on firmware 2.9.0.8076; that model has two physical probe ports. Multi-proxy failover and a host-adapter-only endurance run remain unverified.
