We've been spending quite a bit of time testing Imou devices with Home Assistant recently, and it's been interesting to see how different people use the same cameras in completely different ways.
Some users only use RTSP for local streaming.
Some prefer ONVIF because they want local control.
Others mainly use cloud-based features together with automations.
So I'm curious...
If you're using an Imou camera with Home Assistant today, what does your setup look like?
A few questions I'd love to hear your thoughts on:
Do you mainly use RTSP, ONVIF, or the official Imou integration?
Which camera features are actually useful in your daily setup?
Are there any entities or controls you wish were available in Home Assistant but currently aren't?
For people with multiple cameras, what has been the biggest challenge? Device management? Automations? Performance?
One thing we've noticed during our own testing is that different users have very different priorities.
For example, some people only care about getting a reliable live stream into their dashboard.
Others are much more interested in motion events, PTZ controls, or being able to use camera status in automations.
We're trying to better understand these different use cases so we can continue improving the overall integration experience.
If you're willing to share your setup (camera model + how you're integrating it), we'd really appreciate hearing about it.

This is very vague.
Imou Ranger 2 as a baby monitor via ONVIF with PTZ. Mainly doing motion detection. I had sound detection set up via FFMPEG, but it’s too processor intensive, as it needs to process the live stream off-device.

There appears to be no affiliation with Imou open platform other than the name. Your github account, email, and handle are not listed anywhere in Imou’s websites. All I can see is that this handle was created on github, openhab, and homeassistant forums 2 weeks ago using what appears to be a personal email account.
