What is the best Hidden Window / Door Sensor ? what do you use

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on discreetly installing door/window sensors.
I have triple-glazed windows and doors, and unfortunately I can only fit sensors that are max 29 mm wide and around 12 mm thick inside the frame.
I was considering the Shelly BLU DW, but it’s 35 mm x 35 mm x 7 mm, which is too large for my setup. ( also also not ZWave)

Which Z-Wave door/window sensors are you using that are small enough to be hidden inside the window frame?
Or can you show me your solution ?

Ideally something compact, reliable, and compatible with Home Assistant.

There is also this solution but really expensiv and also not z wave

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

If you remove the plastic then the PCB and magnet is very small.
Shouldn’t be an issue to fit it there.
Not sure about humidity though.
I would expect it to be rather wet in that area with the mixing of cold and hot air

remove the plastic of with sensor exactly ? do you have ref ? and also tested ?

No… but the plastic is only there to protect it and make it pretty.
The version I have needs to be stripped to replace the battery, so technically I have tried it…

I don’t have any personal experience with these, and the fact you have to throw them away in 10 years after the battery dies doesn’t impress me. However, these might be perfect for your use case Strips Guard 800 - Sensative

Remove plastique will not help … perhaps 1mm smaller …

Yes that would be a really nice sensor…
iu found a post, perhaps we can change the battery

Not ours.
And solder off the battery and place it on wires and you have a very very tiny device.

what is this device ?

I have 2 of these, perfect functioning and now at 50% battery . Dont even recall when i bought Them, but its been years ago

`The problem is that i am looking for a zwave solution

Zwave or Zigbee doesn’t matter.
I would be very surprised if a Zwave device would be much larger.
See if you can find some images of the boards of Zwave sensors but I do not believe they would be much larger

Its invisible as it gets

Further to what Hellis81 is saying, you could replace the devices’ reed switch with a ‘remote mounted’ one and connect it to the main device using short wires. That way the main body of the device can be mounted outside the window frame.

Not long ago, I moved to my new, but old, house. There was an outdated alarm system in the house. It hasn’t been used for years, but all sensors were there and in working condition. Among those sensors, I have found wired magnetic door sensors. These sensors are really invisible. They are cylindrical and embedded in the door thresholds. Their magnets are installed just above them in the doors. I threw away the old alarm control board and connected all sensors to a couple of Shelly Wave i4 DC modules, which are Z-Wave 800LR, and have them working with Home Assistant. Those wired cylindrical door sensors can be still bought on Amazon and could be easily installed. The only issue is to provide power to the Shelly modules. There is also an AC version of Shelly Wave i4.

I use these : https://aeotec.com/products/aeotec-recessed-door-sensor-7/ but not sure if drilling is an option in your case

I have still Zwave swindows sensor and tried withot the cover but only saved 1-2 mm …
i guess i have to buy a new on , more compact

The only Problem is that t change the battery

No i can 't use this solution for my windows / door
