Building a new large home. Deciding on what hardware (switches etc. to buy). In my current home, all is Insteon and works well. But would prefer to use Matter over Thread, managed by HA in the new home. There still appears to be only Insteon that actually makes a large range of devices and ideally most should be made by the same company, to keep the system clean and not too much a mix and match. But it appears that one would have to buy light switches say from Inovelli, smart plug in receptacles from some generic brand, relays from Shelly and so on all from different companies who happen to make that kind of device. What about garage door modules, etc.? It appears that there still is only Insteon that actually makes all of these devices and unless there is a company that actually makes such a broad range of devices, may have to use Insteon again in the new home (despite not using Matter).
You don’t find a brand that has all devices Matter. So you need to go with Insteon that doesn’t have them either…
