I am getting new doors and windows installed in my house. When ordering them there was an option to have magnets for security pre-installed. Didnt really think it through and tomorrow I am getting a lot of windows and doors with wires poking out of them installed.
I would like to hook them up to zigbee somehow, my initial though is taking apart aqara door sensors and wiring the magnet wire into them, but seems clunky. What is a smart way of getting my reed sensors into HA?
What are the wires supposed to be connected to? An alarm system?
Magnets don’t need wires, and reed switches would need to be connected to something, so I’m totally not getting the picture.
If the holes are small enough, you can just cover them with zigbee door/window sensors and tuck the unused wire back in the hole, I guess.
Can you run the wires back to a central location? If you can get them all in one place or a few places you can connect them to an esphome board.
I have done something similar with the kincony boards and it’s how I’m planning to integrate the reed switches in a new build to homeassistant.
ESPhome or Konnected board.
