Whats the best stuff to get for HA compatibility?

As above - im new to HA - a couple of weeks now and counting…im coming from an Aurora/ZigBee system - the reason im here on HA is Aurora said they were abandoning the platform.

So far…the initial build was quite easy (Proxmox, vm, deconz stick install)…

Goes a bit downhill from hereon…

Half a day to get a schedule working… With help from one of the users on here…(so ok there)

Got some battery powered scene/buttons…hours on this and still not working.

Motions sensor working last night after hours but my bulbs are appearing to randomly “go offline” why that is ive no idea…

Which begs my original question…here on if i have to buy more bulbs…whats the best ones to get? is there a favorite manufacturer that “like” Home Assistant…?

Cheers

Andy

A common problem for many users is radio interference from an USB3 port, so make sure you use USB2 ports for your radio sticks and use an USB extension cable to get them a bit awy from the physical port.

Well, ironically i drilled a hole in the wall to get it to the most central point so the deConz is on the end of a 2m cable with the pc on the other side of the wall…

When it comes to bulbs and motion sensors, HUE is my favorite solution.
Expensive, but bullet proof !

That works for me! ill get some of those to try! Thanks very much for the advice.!

Zwave for me in US

Other platforms are proprietary and you may ultimately find yourself in the middle of a mess created by a business at decided that you must update your stuff. This is OK for short term 5 yr install but I expect not to upgrade a smart light switch for at least 20yrs in my house.

Zwave has been around forever and work amazing. Zigbee i hear also works well

Wifi requires apps and 10yrs from now most apps wont be working let alone 20

Zwave - not looked for any of that stuff…ill go look now - cheers sir… (another night trying to get the button working!!)
