Having faced disappointment from a ‘smart’ watch for kids, I decided to trust my first grader with an old iPhone 5c that was sitting around unused for a couple of years…
Only to find that iOS 10.3.x is no longer supported by the HA Companion App, the iCloud integration or by traccar.
Any suggestions how to integrate it in HA? I’m looking for basic Location Services (enter/leave School/Playground/etc. zone), maybe presence detection…
Thanks in advance!
Owntracks perhaps?
Edit: nope. Requires iOS 13.2 or later.
Yes, I can see a pattern… and probably for a good reason… a pity though. I can understand when this is coming from a big corporation who’d like to push they next generation of products without caring for electronic waste, however opensource project should be a bit more liberal.
I assume it’s too much work for the devs to keep backwards compability and keep up-to-date with the newest version at the same time.
I’m running iOS Companion 2020.3.1 on a iPhone 5 with iOS 10.3.4. Are earlier versions archived?
@GaryK you should stick to it… If I’m no mistaken the Apple AppStore give no option to install older versions. Maybe if I re-join the beta there’ll be another option. Anyway your setup would be exactly what I’d like to have - a ‘frozen’ older version of the HA Companion/traccar/owntracks/etc. provided ‘as is’.
i was searching for an related issue for an old version of the app, but with the change in appstore there is only the 2020.6(14) available.
