What's the point of the ifttt alarm panel?

Just read the update notes, but I’m curious, why would you use ifttt for this? Could someone enlighten me on why you would want to do it this way?

The ifttt platform allows you to integrate security systems that have no open API but can be controlled through IFTTT.

I assume it’s so you can still run automations based on the state of your alarm (which can only be read through IFTTT integration) or the opposite, arm/disarm your alarm based on whatever your criteria is.

It’s just providing an option for those people who have alarm systems that can’t be directly integrated with HomeAssistant.

This component exists, because quite a few Alarm systems will integrate with IFTTT out of the box, however the manufacturers of those alarm systems don’t provide the details of their APIs to directly integrate with Home Assistant.

Hence this component allows IFTTT to act as a bridge between Home Assistant and Alarm systems that work with IFTTT (but can’t work directly with Homeassistant).
