Hi everyone,
I’ve created a WhatsApp integration with a companion Home Assistant app (aka add-on).
(This is for WhatsApp personal accounts, not WhatsApp Business)
This project started as a fork of Giuseppe Castaldo’s original WhatsApp add-on. I’m grateful to Giuseppe for creating the original project. Since the fork, I’ve taken it many steps further and expanded it into a complete app and HACS integration (officially accepted to HACS, no need to add custom repository).
Main features include:
-
Send text, images, voice messages, audio files, videos, documents, stickers, polls, locations and reactions
-
Edit or delete messages and send quoted replies
-
Receive events for incoming and sent messages, calls and presence updates
-
Download and decrypt incoming images, voice notes, audio files, videos, documents and stickers for use in automations
-
Mark messages as read and send presence updates, including typing indicators
-
Check whether a phone number is registered on WhatsApp and retrieve the identifiers needed for reliable direct-message automations
-
Use multiple WhatsApp accounts or sessions
The integration is installed through HACS, while the local WhatsApp bridge runs as a Home Assistant app (so two different things need to be installed).
