Hallo. I’m trying to do a simple automation with homeassistant: open the garage when I’m arriving (not when I’m home). A simple thing that I solved in 10 minutes with Smartthings. I’ve been trying HA for a week; I searched for videos and forums but didn’t find the solution. I would like to solve with the front end functions as I am not an expert in programming.
Can we see what you’ve done so far?
The trigger, you say, is you “arriving”. Something has to change to make a trigger fire, so how are you monitoring “arriving”?
What’s wrong with you as a person set up in the system with your phone on HA and status chjanges from Away to Home? Works perfectly over here for both an android phone and separately, for an iPhone. We have HVAC turn off when both not home, goes back on when either of us arrive home, we are reminded about windows and doors open when it starts raining or we are leaving the home… it just goes on and on and on, working perfectly. How come there is an issue? How exactly are you trying to determine whether someone is home?
As I understand it, he needs the garage door to open before he is home. The question is, I think, how to trigger that.
It might be as simple as setting up another zone outside the home zone, which would have the sole function of triggering an automation to open the door.
It’s a shelly1 momentary switch. It actions a remote device, staying on for 3 seconds, and then goes off by itself.
You can use the proximity integration and leverage the direction of travel entity (and also the distance entity) to accomplish this easily.
I’ll try better proximity. Thanks.
