Hello everyone,
over the weekend, I had my first – rather unpleasant – experience integrating my ABB Terra AC wallbox (firmware 1.8.36) into Home Assistant. Unfortunately.
The goal was to implement surplus charging with my newly installed SolarEdge PV system.
However, I already failed spectacularly at step 1 - integrating the wallbox.
What happened?
I decided to connect the wallbox using OCPP, so I configured it accordingly. First, I tried using the full server URL - didn’t work. Then I tried a domain specifically set up for this purpose - also didn’t work. Next, I used the server’s IP address.
The connection without SSL (not an issue since everything is within my internal network) finally worked. I was able to query the wallbox - but I could no longer charge the car. Error message: car not detected. Possibly a known CP signal detection issue, cause by a lot of reboots.
That wasn’t intentional! Connection established: cool - being able to charge as well: even cooler.
So I thought, fine, I’ll just roll everything back. Reset the configuration. No charging. Powered off the wallbox and waited (a long time). No charging. Factory reset. Still no charging.
So: contact ABB support. They can check logs remotely and holefully push the configuration from their side. Now I’m waiting for a response, hoping the wallbox can be saved.
I have a slight concern that I won’t be able to let this go and - once the wallbox is working again - I’ll try integrating the lovely Terra AC into Home Assistant once more. A bit of a stubborn optimist, you might say. Well…
I’ll keep you posted.
Best regards,
Stefan
