Which Notification for SMS?

There are a number of notifications components to choose from and I’m trying to figure out which one to use to get push notifications of things like ‘Garage Door Was Just Opened’ or “Front Door is not locked”, etc.

I was reading on the Telegram. But I think you may need to install the Telegram Messenger App on each device as well? I see also the Twilio SMS component.

Is there a preference to sending an SMS notification via Home Assistant?

No, because there is only one real SMS notifications platform (Twilio) beside Free Mobile which is very limited.

Thanks,

And now that i reading up more on things. I guess I really don’t want to sending SMS but really just push notifications to one’s phone or tablets.

So for that, perhaps then using Telegram or another option is a better choice. I’m already using mqtt and OwnTracks, so perhaps something Home Assistant and MQTT or even another option.

I’ll go back and read up more each of them.

I use pushbullet because it’s free and will show up on any device I have it installed on including my Win10 desktops.

I also use HTML5 push for the Androids for anything I want a rich message on like interactivity.

I’m using Join.

It’s a one time cost of $5, installs on all my devices (including my Android TVs) and works pretty good.
