Which set up is better?

I have used my Raspberry Pi with IOTstack and HA so far. My stack consisted of influxDB, Grafana, Node-red, Portainer, Mosquitto. And then Home Assistant is installed, however not as a container, you need to go via separate menu option to install HA. I do now realize that within HA I can add all above apps as add-on’s and got confused. What is better solution?

  1. Download and burn Hassio image to SD card and add apps influxDB, Grafana, Node-red, Portainer, Mosquitto like as addons;
  2. Download and install Raspberry OS, install IOTstack add containers influxDB, Grafana, Node-red, Portainer, Mosquitto and then install HA, but not as a container.
    What are pros and cons for these options, how to choose the right way? Or are those both methods equal? I would consider following arguments:
  • System stability and performance;
  • Back up simplicity and possible restore simplicity.
  • Anything else?

did you get the solution?

I went with two Raspberry Pi’s. One with IOTstack, with node-red, grafana, influxdb, mqtt broker. Secod with Hassio instalation of HA. Thought it was best to keep them appart. Works fine.
