Struggling with what I thought should be a really simple ask - find a Zigbee motor for some honeycomb blinds. Turns out that DC Zigbee blind motors are hard to come by, certainly compared to roller blind motors, of which there are plenty of power and connectivity options.
My preference was for a DC Zigbee motor and so far I have two choices, neither very good Dooya DV24AF (12v, rf433) or Zemismart ZM24TQ-1.5/25-TYZ (100-240v AC, Zigbee) - So, I can have the DC I want, but requires a custom 433mhz bridge solution or zigbee but have to figure out power. Even so, that’s only two options. I thought I would have more choice.
My preferred solution was DC, as I ran Ethernet to the windows after badly assuming that the blinds would be POE or at least <60v DC. I am tempted to buy a Zemismart blind and disassemble it as I suspect the motor doesn’t take 240v directly and I can just drive the control board directly with DC. More money than I want to spend on an experminet though.
I live outside the US, so the usual Lutron suggestions are no good. The idea was to get normal blinds made locally and add the motor. I feel like I must be missing something, and there’s an easier solution. Hopefully someone can point that out ![]()
