You can do it in yaml (so-called “old-style” groups):
In the UI sensors in a group all have to be of the same entity type - I agree, it’s quite annoying. I believe the idea is that we use the labelling system instead for mixed groups.
Hi @jackjourneyman, I know that I can do it in yaml. But in the group documentation it says you should not use the “old” groups anymore (and they don’t have any translation…). I don’t beleave that the idea is to use the labelling system, because you have to use another workflow for your automations than with the other groups…

My understanding of the new groups is that they are designed not to cross types. Even though things like switches are binary in nature, it cannot always safely be assumed that “On” == “True”.
You can, however, make template binary sensors from the switches and then group those.
