To use the Spotify Connect add-on, I plugged my Home Assistant Green into a speaker. To do that, I daisy-chained two converters: male USB-A to female USB-C + male USB-C to Aux dongle + aux cord. I realize daisy chaining like this is not ideal, but it worked fine for several days, and given that it was just outputting an unamplified audio signal, I really didn’t think it would be an issue. However, when I came home today, Spotify Connect no longer recognized the audio output, and I realized that the two converters were blazing hot. Obviously, I unplugged them and won’t be using them again. But I still find this super strange. Given the speaker was not drawing any power, and instead just receiving audio input, I am clueless as to why the converters overheated and am concerned that it is a problem with my Home Assistant hub instead. Am I right in thinking this is strange, or is it just that I daisy-chained the converters?
Poor quality components
Looped grounding or signal issues
Power mismatch or improper negotiation
Use a dedicated USB DAC with USB-A input, not a USB-C DAC via adapter.
connecting various adapters can cause problem of bad connection between them and that can cause overheat
