Wifi Light Bulbs or stick with Philips Hue

Hi,

I’m currently exploring the option of moving away from Philips Hue light bulbs and adopting Wifi Bulbs.

I would like to flash LOHAS light bulbs with E1.31 and MQTT as this link describes.

Pro’s of this…
Cheaper RGB bulbs than Philips, Integrate with LedFX.

I’m worried however about connectivity of the Wifi Bulbs. I have experience with LED strips in Home Assistant and I frequently need to cut and restore the power of these to restart connectivity.

Does anyone know how much connectivity issues there are with Wifi Bulbs hosted internally? Should I go the boring route and stick with my Philips Hue setup? I live in a small apartment by the way.

Thanks,
Jack

Absolutely no wifi problems if you have good wifi. Think ubiquiti. But you can still use the hue bulbs you already have. Mix and match is what home assistant is all about.

Thanks @nickrout. I just finished setting up my Unifi Access Points actually. If there’s no connectivity issues, I’ll definetly give wifi bulbs shot.

Agreed im in no rush to stop using Philips all together
