First i have to say, i love the Bluetooth Audio Manager… its a low friction ui experience.
and i mostly love Music Assistant. The UI needs some major work, but otherwise, yihaaaaw we can play music now.
Now for my problem!
I’ve got several of that elcheapo aliExpress BT 2.1 100W audio booster board that drives my garage speakers. (and other places in my home too)

and i’ve got a CSR4 BT dongle (this one: Ouitble CSR4.0 USB Bluetooth Adapter Wireless Dongles for Mouse Keyboard Headset | PC Bluetooth Adapter für Maus Tastatur Headset, Volle Abwärtskompatibilität mit Bluetooth v4.0/v3.0/v2.1/v2.0/v1.1: Amazon.de: Computer & Accessories) with an extension cord to be far away from my DL380 that hosts my HAOS through PVE9
i installed Bluetooth Audio Manager from HACS, and setup Music Assistant.
Works awesome so far.
I activated the MPD Server in BT-Audio for my board, so MA can actually access it.
In that MPD server settings I oped for 100% volume. (the standard)
so far so normal.
now the wired issue: every time that device connects to HA (e.g. i turn it on), and i then hit play, it sets the volume slider to 100% multiplied by the 100% settings of MPD and multiplied by the 100% of the manual volume resistor on that board. so it plays full party mode. wake-up time for my lovely neighbours at 3 am…
So i started to play with seetings, if i set the MPD server settings to 50%, it starts playing at 50% volume slider, so far so expected, but the unexpected part is: 100% volume slider is now only 50% of total volume capacity… so it actually outputs at 25% and caps at 50% of possible volume.
Do this at MPD 5% and output is basically silent at 100% volume slider.
same happens on a BT disconnect. MA shows playing in the web front end until BT reconnect happens, then playing stops and volume jumps so MPD setting. if i slide it some place else, and hit play, it jumps right back on start of playback to MPD settings. resulted once again in a lovely classic trans wake-up call for my dear neighbours this time at 4am
looks like that MPD % setting goes into the multiplicand, and also poses as “start playback on volume” on reconnect.
very annoying, cause all playback comes at 100%, until you tune it down. or you can’t crank it up if you like a song.
