Work-around for Movie and Music Dreamview using the Govee Cloud Integration

Something that was bothering me that I figured out that I thought I would share with the group concerning finding the Movie Dreamview and Music Dreamview options on your lights using the Govee Cloud Integration and utilizing them in your automations or just call out.

It is important to know that this does not include Scenic Dreamview, Basic and SameModel groups. You can bring those in using the Govee Cloud Integration through the Options and checking the box for “Enable group devices”. It does seem that Scenic Dreamview is just a group.

To find and make sense of your Movie or Music Dreamview and make them available as “Lights” instead of switches, find the device that is the root or controller of the Dreamview and then I renamed the “Dreamview” switch to something that made more sense and then changed it to a light instead of a switch to create that hidden helper.

Movie or Music, it does not matter, it is still “Dreamviewer”. That may confuse people because there is also a Music Mode switch. That is not Music Dreamviewer.

I do have one room where my Music Dreamview involves so many devices, I had to split them up between controlling or root devices and then, I just created a lighting group to take the place of the manual Tap-to-Run in the app, which is really nice because not only can I turn them all on at once but I can also turn them all off as a Home Assistant Group, which you cannot do in the Govee App at this time. Then, you can also use those groups in your automations if you wish. For instance, when I have Music Videos playing in my basement bar, I can turn on the two Music Dreamviews that drive the lights to music and when the videos stop, I could turn those group Music Dreamviews off.

Some day, I hope the API opens up the Scenic Dreamview to use the various “scenes” under them.

Hope this helps or inspires some people.
