Hi everyone,
I am trying to repurpose an old iPad 4th generation running iOS 10.3.3 to use as a dedicated smart home dashboard.
I successfully managed to bypass the App Store restrictions by using my newer iPhone account history to download the "latest compatible version" of the Home Assistant Companion app onto the iPad. However, whenever I launch the app, it hits the blue Home Assistant logo and completely freezes or loops on the loading screen.
I also tried bypassing the app completely by typing the local server IP directly into Safari, Firefox, and even a dedicated kiosk browser app (Kiosk Pro). They all do the exact same thing: they get stuck on a blank white screen or freeze entirely at the /auth/authorize?response_type=code handshake URL.
I know this is due to the ancient WebKit engine in iOS 10 not being able to parse modern JavaScript or the login redirects. Since I really want to use this hardware as a wall remote, has anyone found a valid workaround or a custom configuration tweak to bypass this login loop on legacy iOS devices?
Thanks for any help!
