Everytime I’m wanting to make changes to my notify groups I remember I have to do it via YAML and then do a restart. I’ve found that if I’m defining a new group it won’t be picked up if I do the quick reload from Developer Tools! Why aren’t these something that can be fully configured and managed via the GUI?
This has been in the works for some time, the notification system is being ‘overhauled’, but the process is taking quite a bit of time. Maybe all these WTHs about notifications will nudge these changes to go a bit faster.
Exactly! +1 for this WTH.
As well, I was very surprised to discover that the built-in blueprint for actionable notifications doesn’t permit selection of a notify group.
Another +1 here
… and while we’re at it, the Alert integration (also exclusively yaml-configured) needs a lot of UI-love too.
Sure, alerts can be set up as automations but I didn’t realise until a week ago (after 3 years of play) that there was an Alert integration built in to HA. Something as basic to home automation as alerts really should be fully UI configured.
