Building automations for device trackers is super difficult if you e.g. want to have different automations running for “at home”, “around my home” and “in my village”. device trackers can only be in one zone. If the device tracker is in the inner zone (e.g. “at home”) it’s purely random in which zone it will show.
Searching the forums shows that people give up quickly on location based automations because of this issue.
Technically you can create nested zones.
You can create them but the device tracker can only be in one zone.
If the device is for example in the “at home” zone it’s completely random in which zone the device tracker shows up as it is technically in all 3 at the same time. So nested zones are 100% useless.
So, if you think that device_tracker behave in a wrong way in case of nested zones - then name this WTH & describe it correspondingly. Currently it has smth about automations etc, and nothing about a root reason.
