I can understand due to the navigation issues, however not having an easy native way to push notifications to the TV really is a pain. I’d love to be able to send a notification when the doorbell rings for example, maybe even with a picture, like on the native android app.
Even a TV app with no dashboard support, just for notifications and sensors, would be really really appreciated
Oh! Yep that looks like it’d work perfectly. While reading into this initially a few weeks ago, I came across some Reddit threads suggesting third party apps and other services, and I really didn’t want to go down that rabbit hole. I’ll be sure to give this a go!
I probably should have searched the official docs more, as I have no idea how easy this is to find
EDIT: Oh actually no this is exactly what I saw before. While it would work I guess I’d much prefer to have the same experience as other android devices like my phone. I guess this is a suitable workaround for now, I’d really like to see first party support
Where is the issue with navigation again?
Essentially Home assistant would be up, down, left and right. Start in the menu on the left and just follow the screen. Should that not be quite straight forward?
@rishabmehta7 :
If I am not mistaken we do not have wake words yet on the companion app. I think with all the mobile phones and tablets in most households, that would make by far the biggest contribution to the whole HA voice world. No more slow, dedicated hardware standing around. Just the device that lie around anyway. Fast, small, available.
