WTH don't we have HTTPS connections for LAN access out of the box?

As a Nabu Casa subscriber, I have an HTTPS url for accessing my home HA server remotely.

I don’t run a zero trust network at home, but given the power of HA, it would be nice if HA ran HTTPS over the LAN out of the box. I believe there’s a Lets Encrypt option for HA, but I don’t run my own home domain. I just want as much of my traffic on my home network to be HTTPS by default as possible.

I’d really love to see this one too, have been asking for this myself!

You can’t generate homeassistant.local SSL certificates that would be trusted by default. And sites using HTTPS with untrusted certificates are much worse user experience than HTTP sites.
