WTH Google Location History & default Map functionality

With the upcoming closure of Google Maps Location remote data storage, could the built in Map page have more functionality to show history and to search dates? I’m already using the map card to show history, but this is just done in # hours past.

I’d also be really impressed if the ability to upload my past history from Timeline data files was included.

I also believe the iOS app may not store location data when there is no internet connectivity. When tracking flights etc, this would be really useful!

I’d also want to be 100% sure the data is retained forever, and not deleted after x days (unless put as a setting?).

Wow, that would be a lot of data…

I don’t think this would ever be possible with the way the HA database works. Raw data is purged after a certain amount of days and only hourly values are kept for long term statistics and then only for sensors that support it (measurements mostly).

When you are using the map card it is pulling data from the “raw” data that is normally purged on a regular basis. If that data wasn’t purged, the database would grow to an unwieldly size, in some cases very quickly.
