WTH - Support Notifications in the UI from automations

A lot of us have dashboards to glance at critical alerts and device states. There is no way for us to have actionable notifications on the dashboard unless we have conditional cards to show the state of the sensor entity. Supporting a way to trigger notifications such as popups or banners on the UI from automations will be really cool way to have dynamic notifications from automations. I know there is persistent notifications for the UI, but its all hidden away in the sidebar and doesn’t demand immediate attention.

Are you thinking of device notification banners that pop up? If so, you can currently use companion app persistent notifications with sticky set to true so that they pop up and don’t go away until an automation removes them.

Or are you suggesting pop ups in a dashboard that can be triggered by automations?

Popups or an event card to show top 10 notifications that are triggered by automations. Instead of writing conditional cards to show sensor information, automations should really be the backend to decide what to show.

Unreal… I literally came here to post this exact WTH issue and here it is, listed FIRST. Not in the companion app. On your PC in your a web browser as a pop-up.

Think windows dialog box with whatever msg you want.
automation failed? Tell me
Automation just ran? Tell me
ESPHome device just woke up? Tell me so I can update it.

And tell me no matter what dashboard I’m currently looking at.

There are 100’s of scenarios when a simple dialog box ON YOUR PC SCREEN is all you need. It’s fine if it’s in Lovelace. I don’t care!
