I’ve tried the X-Sense MQTT integration and noticed that it doesn’t seem to send any heartbeat or periodic status updates.
After the initial status message, I don’t appear to receive anything further.
Without regular pings or updates, it’s hard to tell whether the integration is still working or if the device has gone offline.
Has anyone else experienced the same behavior, or could there be something wrong with my setup?
Same. I have only seen messages at start (or when the base station reboots) otherwise nothing. Also, have not seen a meesage when an alarm triggers (test button I tried). Not sure what the use of the integration then is.
At SBS50 startup MQTT messages are sent and the attached smoke detectors are recognised and the state of all entities is populated
While running no more MQTT messages are sent (heartbeat missing). So you do not know if attached detectors are dead or alive
If you reboot HA entities become unavailable as there is no info passed on from the SBS50 periodically
If I push a test button on a smoke alarm no MQTT message is passed on to HA. So you will not know if there is a fire going or not
The existing integration via the cloud
Works, more features available
Not sure how often information is pulled from the cloud (Not sure if here is a heartbeat either?)
Similar to the above, if I push a test button on a smoke alarm no alarm is raised in the integration. So, also not sure if you get informed if a fire is going.
Overall, I look for a way to create automations so that when there is a fire I get a message, the lights go on, the heating goes off, and so on. Currently I do this via my z-wave smoke detectors but I would like to get as well the x-sense sensors to send something to HA (Its ok that they make noise and beep and all that but I want a message in HA too).
I found your integration for x-Scense smoke detectors (XS0B-MR & XH02-M) In your earlier posts I saw pictures with test button in Home Assistant. But in your actually version, the function doesn’t show up.
Just got a pop-up in the X-Sense app that it now supports Home Assistant for the SBS50… but I wasn’t sure if it meant the custom integration or what. Anyone have any ideas?
Does this official integration even work and send data regularly? My Home Assistant never shows any activity for the entities. Yesterday all the smoke detectors suddenly went offline — I had to reconnect them through the X-Sense app.
There’s an update to 1.7.2 on the base now, don’t know what it does though update after updating all units updated mqtt, let’s see how long this works this time.
Does anybody know if there is a way to connect more than 10 thermo-hygrometer to one SBS50?
I know that the SBS50 has a limit of 50 devices connected. I have 19 smoke detectors or combo detectors successfully paired and working. When trying to connect my 11th thermo-hygrometer I get the failure notice that only 10 devices of this type are supported.
Honestly, I don’t understand this limit and it makes no sense to me.
If there is no way around, I will have to setup a second home and use a second SBS50. Hopefully Theo’s integration does support more than one home.
I also have the XS01-WX Smoke Detector (battery operated). After installation, they show up as entities, but while testing with real smoke, they do not update in HA. However, the X-Sense app does update and issues notifications. I saw some posts that people here got it to work, but yours is the most recent and it seems yours don’t either. Did you ever figure it out?
Hi Theo, thanks so much for your great work! I have been waiting for this feature to be added for quite some time. In my setup, running version 1.0.18, the test button for the XH02-M heat sensor is still missing. Should your update already be contained in this release or will it be part of a future release?
After more testing, I got it to work. Once. But it took 5 minutes from when I got the notification in the X-Sense app to when I got the notification in HA through this integration. Strange. Then I tried repeating the test and no notifications after several hours. Also, the smoke detector status does not update. I removed the battery around 9am and as you can see, it thinks the detector is still on.
I’ve tried the X Sense app COnnect to Home assistant feature and put in the MQTT mosquitto app/add on addresses, it says it’s connected and I can see the connection in the logs, but no devices/entities have been created in Home assistant? I’m on the latest 1.7.21 for the SBS50. Is there something I’m missing?
Where are you looking for the Devices in HA…they appear under MQTT in HA, so yourHAinstanceaddress/config/integrations/integration/mqtt rather than under XSense or the like
(maybe you’ve checked there but just in case as you don’t mention where you’ve looked)
Hi, yeah I looked in the devices under the MQTT integration and there are no xsense devices just other devices. I also searched through the entity list and full device list and can’t find them
I’ve tried disconnecting and re-connecting in the x-sense app and restarting the SBS50 but nothing…
