On my Launchpad Xcel page my meter ALWAYS initially says it’s not connected but just refreshing the page a few times gets it to change to connected.
On the meter itself, the display says that the meter is connected to my wifi, that has never changed since enrolling
I tried different locations for the access point to see if the meter connection would improve but other than the signal strength of the connection changing there was no other difference.
And STILL, no response from Xcel other than receiving marketing emails about how they’re all about the customer and customer satisfaction.
I have a WAP about 10 ft from my meter, which it is normally connected to, but it will happily connect two walls and 30ft to the next closest WAP as well.
I initially struggled because my IOT SSID had a 63 character random passcode. It would not connect to this SSID at all. Setting up a special (not hidden) SSID for this device with a less psychotic passcode allowed me to connect in the first place.
Further, I may have had some issues with connection when I started messing with minimum data rates and some other things. I think it just needs some pretty vanilla wifi settings with a channel that is not crazy busy.
If you can give it its own SSID, I recommend it. (I have since found a couple other devices that are not compatible with my IOT SSID, so they have also joined this ultra vanilla SSID).
Cool, thanks. That’s pretty much what I ended up doing, having an outdoor WAP with its own SSID that’s literally two feet from the meter.
FWIW, since contacting Xcel after that issue I described in my previous post, the meter has been reliably reporting readings more or less every 10 seconds. I’m always waiting for it to fail (and I have a Shelly Pro 3EM I’m planning to install in the electrical box if it does), but so far, so good?
SDK access granted, LFDI generated, but nowhere to register it — portal URLs dead. Anyone have recent success in registering the new LFDI? The my connection app also does not have an area to add this.
For lfdi, you get the lfdi from home assistant. For type, I selected other. For all other fields, make sure that you don’t use any special charcters. I would stick to just lowercase letters and no spaces. Keep things simple.
