hy, i’m impressed of the power that hass.io delivers. I set up an PI 3 but i’m confused about handling Xiaomi wireless switches, the rounded version.
Can these switches report the state back to Home Assistant if i’m using them manually?

Manually…i mean …i will use the physical button to turn on the light
but i want also the state to change for the that light
i also have a Mi Power Strip. It connects with the Home Assistant via Wifi but if I press the hardware button on the power strip…well…state is not updated in HA. As a result my power strip is on and in HA reports it as off… It’s very annoying

Are you using some sort of xiaomi gateway automation? I mean, did you set in the xiaomi gateway/app something like when you single click a button some light must be turned on? This is not the best approach as you should keep the automations on HA. Btw, I just saw that we can use the power strip with HA, so let the HA control it instead of the gateway.
i don’t think the Xiaomi sensors works without the gateway… on the other hand power strip does not need a gateway, but when i press the hardware button it does not sync in HA,
@darks0ul the integration of the Xiaomi product range into HASS is one of the best I’ve seen and much of that thanks must go to @Danielhiversen.
The product range is also priced right, easy to use and great quality. My own use of the switches is to control things like third party light switches, smart plugs as well as just firing scripts. Apart from attaching the switches and sensors to the gateway I have no need to go near the Mi Home app, everything is managed from within Home Assistant.
I run multiple gateways and it’s all pretty seemless. I’m a big fan.
Indeed it does not need the Mi Home app, but my question till remains; If you press the Xiaomi round switch it is able to also sync in HA?
