YoLink integration

Just got the 0605 firmware loaded on my local hub last night. Matter integration has been stable; on 0604 firmware it would have crashed within an hour or so. Tried out the MQTT interface and that seems to work well too (just using MQTT explorer for testing). This is great! I’m hoping the local hub proves itself to be in the same tier of reliability as other on-prem wireless solutions (Z-Wave / ZigBee / Etc)

Have they expanded device compatibility over Matter at least? Before motion sensors weren’t supported which surprised me. Although a local integration would be even better whenever that happens.

As for myself, I saw the 0605 update a week ago and when I tried to update it, it bricked my hub. I talked to Yolink and they said they’ll send me another one when they become available at the end of the month. So for me anyways the wait continues :frowning:

So far I’ve only migrated some door sensors, temp/humidity sensors, and switched outlets. I don’t have a ton of YoLink stuff yet (maybe 20 sensors) since I have only really been using YoLink for outdoor applications that are too spread out to form a good Z-Wave/Zigbee mesh
(Z-Wave LR wasn’t around yet when I built out most of my current house’s HA system). I try to avoid using cloud-dependent devices when possible and until now YoLink had been in that category. If things seem like they are stable and on par with other PANs for reliability then I’d love to consider YoLink for future additions or projects.

Just tried Matter out today. Motion sensors now do show up. Door Lock v2 showed up too.

Batteries on every device were all showing 80% which is inaccurate.

The one huge oversight is after adding matter, any changes to sensors/ devices (adding one or taking one away) requires a matter reset… now your sensors are not recognized in your chosen platform (HomeKit/ google/ whatever app you choose) requiring you to set everything up again. Due to this issue it’s still in beta for all practical purposes…

Assuming you are on the 0605 firmware, I find that going into the local hub settings and choosing “restart local network” provides a quick way to add or remove sensors to the Matter connection without tanking the rest of the setup. Give it a try and let us know if it works for you.

Wow! Ok… I stand corrected. That worked. Took a few minutes to sync up but that changes things for the matter setup.

Thanks so much!

It sounds like Matter is finally in a functional state at least. Ironically my Internet is down right now so I could have really benefited from it if the latest update hadn’t bricked my hub lol.

Thanks for your latest update. My Local Hub also appears to be bricked, after installing the 0605 firmware. The “Status” light flashes twice quickly every second, with no other lights on. I’ve tried all combinations of power-on-off, Set-button press durations, etc. The unit does get a local DNS address, and I can ping it, but it stays offline in the app and there is no traffic through the router. I’ll contact YoLink support as well…

I received this response from YoLink today:

Unfortunately, the local hub was released in limited quantities a couple of months ago for the purpose of gathering feedback.
An upgraded version is currently in development, and we expect to release it in the next quarter of this year. Once it becomes available, we will be happy to expedite one to you.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We can hope that the crazy tarriff situation does not affect YoLink too much…

I was about to reply to you with my own message from them. Except it was them responding to me because I messaged them first. The reasoning they gave me was different, but the timing is about the same.

They didn’t mention an upgraded version of the local hub. But they did cite tariffs as the reason for the delay. They said they expect inventory in late May so the timing lines up since I probably wouldn’t get it until June(which is the beginning of the next quarter) I guess.

So yeah we’re in the same boat until June from the looks of it. I just hope that there is a worthwhile upgrade of some sort. Like give me a thread radio so the new hub can be used as a thread border router at least.

Perhaps my purchase to test the waters was not a mistake.
I won’t buy any more sensors until I have a local hub, but the standard cloud version is pretty ok.
