Z2M device removed, but still in HA

I had an Aqara TRV in Z2M which broke.

I removed it from Z2M (the physical device is now in the trash - no batteries) but HA thinks it still exists and I cannot deleted it (or one of its sensors).

Has anyone had this kind of problem?
What do I need to do to remove a non-existent device?
Until now, removing device from Z2M also removed it from HA.

Thanks.

Use MQTT Explorer and delete it from MQTT.

Did you restarted ha ?

Hi, yes, I removed it from Z2M…

Hi,

I restarted HA, then Z2M and then rebooted the Pi they are both running on.

I removed all labels.

…I can’t think of anything else. It’s weird.

Delete it from mqtt integration and try to just restart ha.

I must be missing a trick - @Neil_Brownlee wrote the same thing.

I am running HA Container (so no MQTT explorer). I am unable to delete it from the MQTT integration (within HA).

MQTT Explorer is a Windows / Mac / Linux program

so perfectly useable with HA Container

If you are using container then you must be using z2m and mosquitto in side different containers.
If you can’t delete device from mqtt integration then you probably have some permissions issues as you don’t have rw access.
At least that is how this looks to me.

OK, downloading - thanks.

OK, thanks all.

@Neil_Brownlee - sorry that I misunderstood your post regarding MQTT explorer.

I can see it in MQTT Explorer, but not in Z2M (where I deleted it) so have no clue what is happening. The MQTT explorer app is brand new to me. How do I delete it using this app?

MQTT explorer:

Z2M:

Yes, that’s correct.

I have never had a problem deleting a device from Z2M (and then having it retained in MQTT) before and I have not changed MQTT itself in a long time. The only 2 changes will have been Z2M and HA updates.

Mark “Bedroom 1 radiator” and click delete.

I don’t understand why this is not working on your side

Once the device is removed from Zigbee2MQTT you should be able to go here and delete the device from the MQTT integration.

I have never had to do this before (deleting from Z2M has always removed from HA until now) so was not even aware that menu option existed! I was trying to delete from the menu in the top right-hand corner (where I have deleted my non MQTT devices in the past) eg:

So, thanks to you and @P6Dave, now I know that a delete option exists where you pointed me…

…it is now deleted!

Thanks to everyone for their patience whilst I slowly realised what you guys always knew.

Thanks! I did that but it didn’t remove the device from HA (even after restarting everything, HA, Z2M, my Pi).

@ddaniel and @P6Dave pointed me in the right direction with their screenshots of where the ‘delete’ button was for MQTT devices in HA.

I can only mark one post as the solution, but I do appreciate everyone’s help.
