Z2MQTT and aqara E1 lights turn on spontaneously

Hi folks.

This has been driving me mad - the light will turn on, completely of its own accord at random times and this has meant the lights are on at night - waking up my wife and kids (hence the stress on my head!).

The Aqara E1 2 rocker no-neutral is the switch. It is driving 3x 4.4w LED bulbs in a fancy fitting my wife insisted on. There is currently no capacitor installed.
In Z2MQTT it says that this device has power outage ’ 152 times’ and counting. it is wired correctly.

So last night I had to turn off Z2MQTT and the light didnt spontaneously turn itself on.

how do i fix this?

I am using TubesZB 2024 POE powered co-ordinator.

Help!!!

Are those bulbs spread out across both gangs of your switch? The no-neutral switches require at least 5W of load per gang, so your 4.4W (assuming those lights are actually 4.4w) load might not be enough:

Try setting the power_outage_memory setting to off, hopefully that should be enough to stop them turning on. They should also have a mode_switch with anti flicker mode - maybe this might help too. Docs

If that doesn’t fix it, then you will need to either replace the lights with ones of a higher wattage, add a capacitor, or else pull a neutral to the switch.

PS - This is all assuming the switch is directly connected to the bulbs, and that there’s no automation controlling this switch. If there’s an automation, please post it here.

Thanks for your reply.

  1. The right switch is directly connected to 3x 4w bulbs in the ceiling fixture.
  2. The left hand switch is a toggle automation for an LED light that is connected via MagicHome (completely seperate). It is set to decoupled.

I think I might need to go the capacitor route.

Last night I turned off Z2MQTT completely by disabling the addon. This AM i turned it on and so far its not done anything odd.
Ill still add the capacitor i think.

Try the power_outage_memory setting first, if you haven’t done so already. At the very least, it should prevent your lights turning on by themselves when the switch doesn’t get enough power.

You will still probably need that capacitor, but the above should avoid complaints until it arrives and is installed.

Thanks…I have that already set.
Its almost as if it gets a message as if someone has pressed the button…but they haven’t
