Did the update this morning without problems, well done ![]()
i’m in a similar situation, however afaik my firmware update to 7.5.1.0 actually seemed to succeed. however, the end result is that all my zigbee devices are unavailable.
so i’m not sure how to proceed. i have tried unplugging, restarting, etc. but no re-install of 7.5.1.0 was triggered in my case.
i welcome any suggestions - half the lights and sensors in my house are off. ![]()
Dduff, in my case the 7.5.1.0 firmware had already downloaded, but required the power cycle of the ZBT-2 to activate it.
The zigbee network automagically came back by itself - but it did take a while for all devices to come ontline.
I had had frequent OTBR crashes with my ZBT-2 running 2.4.4 firmware. Once I flashed the (still-beta) 2.7.2 firmware [https://github.com/NabuCasa/silabs-firmware-builder/releases/download/v2026.02.23/zbt2_openthread_rcp_2.7.2.0_GitHub-fb0446f53_gsdk_2025.6.2.gbl], I’ve had no OTBR crashes for the last 24 hours. I’m using a Docket HA setup. I hope this gets rolled into a Stable firmware release soon.
thanks, @donburch888. i had a similar experience and my network is also back up and running. i had actually already tried a power cycle previously and it didn’t seem to work. so i conclude either a second power-cycle was required (which seems plausible, given that this may have been some kind of post-firmware-update reset) or possibly a longer-duration shutoff (>30 sec) may have made the difference.
recovery process was tricky for me because while my zigbee network was having the problem, parts of the HA configuration interface for zigbee went away. so seeing what firmware version my zbt-2 thought it was on and whether the usb connection was healthy, etc. were kind of a pain. e.g., i was looking at zbt-2 asking myself “didn’t that thing used to have LED lights on it?”, etc.
Hi all, after reading all the potential issues with the FW updates I was wondering if this merhod would be cleaner/easier? Any comments/gotchas on this approach?
Shut down HA and server hardware
Unplug ZBT2(and ZWA2 for that matter)
Use the toolbox to upgrade it (them) directly
Plug the ZBT2(and ZWA2) back in.
Power HA back up.
I would think that this way would be a lot smoother but i havent seen it mentioned so im curious.
Thanks!
I ended up plugging it into my main PC and using the web updater to load the latest firmware. Worked like a charm. Links are in the thread above somewhere.
I have my HA OS running as a VM on a lxd host and USB passthrough two ZBT-2. I tried to flash both of them with the HA GUI, one with Thread 2.7.2.0 and one with Zigbee 7.5.1.0. Both seemed fine during the update and then failed at the last step with the error message “Failed to probe the firmware after flashing”. After that they stopped working.
I’m not 100% sure if this is related to my setup or similar to the issue described here. But i found this thread and flashed both directly with the firmwares you mentioned and the toolbox. All up and running now.
Thanks alot for your help!
Here I also had issues with the 7.5.1.0 upgrade in combination with Z2M. The upgrade succeded, however, lost half of my the devices and was also not able to re rejoin them. Based on the tip in this topic I went back to 7.4.4.6 and instandly worked again luckily.
I have a Skyconnect ZBT-1 which I attempted to update last night. It would start the process then hang and fail after getting to 22-26%. I stopped my ZHA, rebooted and ran it again and had the same result. Then connected the ZBT-1 to my MBP and tried the web flasher – it does not even detect the device.
I now have a pretty blue usb stick and a box of zigbee devices that are not working! Anyone have suggestions?
With a MBP, you have to use Chrome to detect the zbt1.
