ZEAL-Dry - designed to protect homes, holiday properties, boats, caravans, cellars, garages and other enclosed spaces from excessive airborne moisture, condensation and mould risk

Introducing ZEAL-Dry

I would like to introduce the second Home Assistant integration in the ZEAL — Zoned, Efficient, Adaptive, Learning — family: ZEAL-Dry.

ZEAL-Dry is designed to protect homes, holiday properties, boats, caravans, cellars, garages and other enclosed spaces from excessive airborne moisture, condensation and mould risk.

Its purpose is simple:

Keep it dry, not warm.

Rather than operating an air conditioner according to temperature alone, ZEAL-Dry monitors the conditions within each zone—including temperature, relative humidity, dew point and dew-point spread—to determine when moisture protection is needed.

Each zone can have its own sensors, protection settings and one or more compatible air-conditioning units. ZEAL-Dry then uses the air conditioner’s Dry mode only when the measured risk and chosen protection level require it.

The dedicated Home Assistant interface provides:

  • A unified Overview of every protected zone
  • Clear moisture-risk and drying-demand information
  • Independent Property Protection, Occupied and Off profiles
  • Early Protection, Balanced and Economy drying responses
  • Multi-zone and multi-ACU support
  • Minimum runtime, rest and recovery protection
  • Sensor-health and equipment-fault monitoring
  • In-panel setup for adding, editing and removing zones
  • A safe Test/Dummy ACU mode for trying the system without operating real equipment

Home Assistant entities remain available for dashboards and automations, while the ZEAL-Dry panel provides a focused interface for everyday monitoring and control.

ZEAL-Dry is currently a controlled prototype, so live equipment should initially be tested under supervision. It manages airborne moisture and condensation risk; it cannot diagnose or repair leaks, rising damp or other forms of structural water ingress.
