Zemismart 808 Series Push Button Switch Selection Guide for Home Assistant

Zemismart 808 Series Push Button Switch Selection Guide for Home Assistant

Hi everyone,

We would like to share a selection guide for the Zemismart 808 Series smart wall switches. The 808 Series is designed for users who prefer a real physical push button instead of a touch panel, while still keeping smart control through Home Assistant and other smart home platforms.

Because the 808 Series includes different protocols, wiring types, materials, colors, and gang options, choosing the right model can be confusing at first. This guide is intended to make the selection process easier for Home Assistant users.

What is the Zemismart 808 Series?

The Zemismart 808 Series is a push-button smart switch family. All models in this guide use physical buttons, but they differ in several important ways:

  • Matter over Wi-Fi or Tuya Zigbee
  • Neutral required or no neutral required
  • PC / plastic panel or aluminum alloy panel
  • White or grey finish
  • 1/2/3/4 gang models
  • Dedicated 6 gang models

1. Choose the protocol first

The first decision is whether you want Matter over Wi-Fi or Tuya Zigbee.

Matter over Wi-Fi

Matter over Wi-Fi models are suitable if you want Matter ecosystem support and a simpler setup without adding a Zigbee hub. They can be a good choice for users who want to connect the switch to Home Assistant and also use other Matter platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, or Alexa.

Matter over Wi-Fi is recommended for:

  • Users who want Matter support
  • Homes with reliable Wi-Fi coverage
  • Users who do not want to add a Zigbee coordinator or hub
  • New installations with neutral wire available

Matter over Wi-Fi 808 models:

ZM808-P1 Neutral required White PC / plastic panel 1/2 gang ZM808-P1
ZM808-1-G Neutral required Grey aluminum alloy 1/2/3/4 gang ZM808-1-G
ZM808-P6 Neutral required 6 gang push-button panel 6 gang ZM808-P6

Recommended choices:

  • Choose ZM808-P1 for a simple white Matter switch in 1 or 2 gang installations.
  • Choose ZM808-1-G if you want a grey aluminum alloy finish and need up to 4 gangs.
  • Choose ZM808-P6 if you need one Matter switch panel to control six lighting circuits.

2. Choose Tuya Zigbee if you already use Zigbee

Tuya Zigbee models are suitable for users who already have a Zigbee network, a Tuya/Zemismart Zigbee hub, or a Home Assistant Zigbee setup.

For Home Assistant users, Zigbee models may be used through a compatible Zigbee coordinator with ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, or through a Tuya/Zemismart hub depending on your setup and model support. Please always check compatibility with your own Zigbee coordinator and integration before installation.

Zigbee neutral required models

Choose a neutral required model if your wall box has a neutral wire. This is usually the preferred option for new installations because the switch has stable power from line and neutral.

Model Wiring Panel / Color Gang Options Link
ZM-808-LP1 Neutral required White PC / plastic panel 1/2/3/4 gang ZM-808-LP1
ZM-808-L1 Neutral required White aluminum alloy 1/2/3/4 gang ZM-808-L1
ZM-808-LG Neutral required Grey aluminum alloy 1/2/3/4 gang ZM-808-LG
K6-A1 Neutral required Aluminum alloy + V0 flame-retardant PC 1/2/3/4 gang K6-A1
ZM-808-LP6 Neutral required White PC / plastic panel 6 gang ZM-808-LP6

Recommended choices:

  • Choose ZM-808-LP1 if you want a clean white PC panel.
  • Choose ZM-808-L1 if you want a white aluminum alloy panel.
  • Choose ZM-808-LG if you want a grey aluminum alloy panel.
  • Choose K6-A1 if you want the aluminum alloy button style with 1 to 4 gang options.
  • Choose ZM-808-LP6 if you need a dedicated 6 gang Zigbee switch.

Zigbee no neutral models

Choose a no neutral model if your wall box does not have a neutral wire. This is common in older homes or retrofit projects.

Model Wiring Panel / Color Gang Options Link
ZM-808-ZP1 No neutral required White PC / plastic panel 1/2/3 gang ZM-808-ZP1
ZM-808-Z1 No neutral required White aluminum alloy 1/2/3 gang ZM-808-Z1
ZM-808-ZG1 No neutral required Grey aluminum alloy 1/2/3 gang ZM-808-ZG1

Recommended choices:

  • Choose ZM-808-ZP1 for a white PC no-neutral installation.
  • Choose ZM-808-Z1 for a white aluminum alloy no-neutral installation.
  • Choose ZM-808-ZG1 for a grey aluminum alloy no-neutral installation.

4. Notes for Home Assistant users

Before buying or installing, please check these points:

  1. Confirm whether your wall box has a neutral wire.
  2. Confirm the number of lighting circuits you need: 1/2/3/4 gang or 6 gang.
  3. Choose the protocol based on your Home Assistant setup:
    • Matter over Wi-Fi for Matter integration.
    • Zigbee for ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, or Tuya/Zemismart hub based setups.
  4. Confirm the panel style:
    • PC / plastic panel for a clean standard look.
    • Aluminum alloy panel for a more premium finish.
    • Grey aluminum alloy for a darker modern style.
  5. For no-neutral models, please check lamp compatibility and minimum load requirements before installation.
  6. If you are not sure about wiring, please ask a qualified electrician before installation.

5. Final recommendation

For most new Home Assistant installations with neutral wire, Matter over Wi-Fi models are a good option if you want Matter support and simple ecosystem compatibility.

For users already running a Zigbee network, the Tuya Zigbee 808 models may be a better fit, especially if you prefer to keep lighting devices on Zigbee instead of Wi-Fi.

For retrofit projects without a neutral wire, choose the no-neutral Zigbee models from the ZM-808-Z series.

All models in this guide use physical push buttons, so they are suitable for users who want smart control while keeping a familiar wall switch experience.

@zemismart does 808 zigbee models support decoupled mode or detached relay in HA with mqtt? I don’t see the configuration

This feature is not supported at the moment. but will feedback to our team.
