Zemismart has released the ZMCIR01 Matter WiFi IR Thermostat, designed to bring traditional IR air conditioners into smart home systems such as Home Assistant.

Many homes still use air conditioners controlled by infrared remotes. With ZMCIR01, users can connect compatible IR air conditioners from different brands to Home Assistant and manage them as a climate device.
After being added through Matter, the device can provide commonly used climate-related functions in Home Assistant, including:
- Air conditioner control
- Current temperature
- Humidity
- Target temperature
- HVAC mode
This allows users to create automations based on room temperature and comfort needs.
For example, one automation can be set as:
When the room temperature is higher than 28°C, Home Assistant turns on the air conditioner and sets cooling to 24°C.
Users can also create other rules, such as turning off the air conditioner when the temperature drops below a selected value, or adjusting the target temperature based on different time periods, room conditions, or personal preferences.
