ZHA compatibility with devices

Hi here,

I am a new HA user and want to use ZHA, as it is the first-class citizen for Zigbee in HA and I am also using the official ZBT-1 stick.

But I am running in massive problems. I only added the first 10 devices and only 5 are working correctly.

The others:

  • One Osram Plug pairs, but is not controllable. Two others are working
  • One plug has factor 100 wrong energy metering
  • One sensor shows activity in log, but entities are not controllable
  • Another Nous plug not working

Is this expected? All of them were working perfectly with Homey, where I am coming from.

I know there are quirks and I can help develop then, but I am asking whether it is normal that 50% of the devices are not working currently?

I probably won’t be the only one to suggest this, but Zigbee2MQTT has a far higher number of supported devices.

Really depends on what devices you purchase. If you have standards compliant devices, they just work, if they don’t follow standards then we have to jump through hoops to support them. Tuya based devices usually cause the most problems.

I’ll second this! ZHA is catching up, but I still prefer Z2M

I know Z2M has way better compatibility, but I really want to use the native Zigbee support. Just sad it is in such a bad state, was hoping for 1 or 2 quirk devices, not 50%. :disappointed:

I went through the same dilemma. Switched to Z2M and never looked back

One big advantage of Z2M is that when you restart HA core (for an update etc.) - it’s not affected.

I have to correct my statement to ZHA a little bit:

After waiting a little more, most of the devices seem to work now. Even the ones completely marked as broken (with yellow exclamation mark) are now displayed correct.

I have only one device which doesn’t works, but I wrote a quirk for it (quirks V2 API is really nice!) and now it’s also working like a charm.

I am going to stay on ZHA, looks good now.
