Zigbee Antenna Upgrade Options

Curious if anyone here has installed a better antenna for their Zigbee hub device? I’m currently using a Sonoff Zigbee Dongle Plus-E as a main router, and another as an extender out in my garage. Signal isn’t great for my backyard as the house/garage are built with concrete blocks so I was thinking about trying a different antenna to mount on the soffit/eave of the garage to get better coverage in the backyard.

Anyone try this yet? Any recommendations for antennas?

Are you running your Zigbee on 2.4Ghz or 915Mhz?

If it’s 2.4ghz then you have a bigger choice.

You will need to check if your current antenna is normal SMA or RP(reverse polarity) RP more likely then try a 2.4ghz directional antenna

2.4ghz currently - thanks for the tip on SMA vs RP! I picked up an antenna on Amazon that works and luckily it came with a RP adapter. Next step is for me to run the cable outside and mount it to the eave of the garage

Hi
That doesn’t say its 2.4ghz and its not directional. It probably wont help.
I see further in it does cover 2300 to 2700 mhz so may be of some use

Have you looked at extending the network instead? I mounted zigbee bulbs in my outdoor lights and bridged the gap between my house and garage that way.

Yeah it currently has improved the signal already just testing it with the antenna inside the garage (concrete block walls). I’m okay with it being omni as I’m hoping to just make it better to cover the backyard and have a better reception from my main zigbee router inside upstairs.
