I bought me a Zigbee driven electricity meter with a clamp for measuring both consuming and delivering power. I also bought a Sonoff ISB Zigbee dongle and attached it to my mini pc where HA is running. That works okay although i must find a way to store the measured data from time to time so i can track the total usage for a period. But that’s not important now, I was wondering in this configuration the dongle is a Zigbee Gateway. But is it only a gateway to devices in Home Assistant? What i want is add devices to the smart life app on my telephone. That isn’t possible directly because a telephone doesn’t talk Zigbee. But can that be done via the Zigbee GW in some way?
This you do in Home Assistant Home Energy Management - Home Assistant
Use the HA app instead?
AFAIK smart life is one way from Homeassistant - that’s a smart life decision.
And honestly you’re better off in HA. But that’s my personal opinion.
I know this but i was curious if i also can connect to devices om my phone through the zigbee GW?
If you go the HA route, it’s more logical to stick to it as much as possible unless you like to have a lot of apps on your mobile devices…
No i don’t wanna have a lot of apps. I only want to know if there is a way that i can for example use an app on my telephone through the GW (sonoof zigbee dongle) which is directly connected to the HA mini pc?
Simply. No. Not without disconnecting it from HA.
With zigbee - One coordinator one controller software. Theoretically there may be a way to make smartlife connect to it (doubtful AFAIK they only control Tuya stuff) but you would have to disconnect it from what’s controlling it now (probably ZHA in Homeassistant?)
Unless I don’t understand what you’re after: you do that with the HA companion app, which is connected to your HA mini pc which is connected to your zigbee GW.
Thanks Nathan. That’s i wanna know.
Yes HA is controlling it and it stay that way
