Zigbee door sensors

How can you tell if an already installed Zigbee sensor(s) will work with a HA USB Zigbee device? New (old) house we bought has 5 sensors already on 4 doors and 1 window.

Long press the button on the device until the light starts flashing and press the Add Device button in your Zigbee integration on HA.

The list of supported devices in Zigbee2MQTT is here Zigbee2MQTT

That is the main problem. I have no idea what brand this is. house came with a Climax HSGW-G8 which has Zigbee built in and with a no brand name on the sensors as shown in attached photo:

Try pairing them, if they don’t work it’s not a huge cost to change them.

I haven’t purchased the USB dongle yet. Was thinking about getting the SONOFF as that seem popular here : SONOFF 3.0

I personally recommend a POE Zigbee coordinator. Check out smlight. Their newest (I think), the SLZB-MR1U does Zigbee, Matter, and will passthrough a Z-Wave USB stick to ethernet too.

I just switched to that and am liking it. Not having any physical sticks in the machine makes it easier to change hardware/VMs if needed.

I have been running an SLZB-06 for a couple years. Just made the switch to the new one.

Thank you Jeff. I see there is MR1, MR2, MR3 and a MRW10! How does one choose? They all say HA … :scream:

Hahaha.

No clue other than what I have used. I believe they had a great product when i tried the -06. It was wonderful and still is.

I only changed for the USB pass through of the Z-Wave that I wanted. This had the second chip/antenna for Matter. I don’t have any Matter devices. But, WTH.

They seem to be adding a crapload of devices now.

I can only speak to the -06 and the MR1U. Both work.

I do not see a MR1U but that could be because it does not ship down here to Colombia. I will have to read thru them all to try and see what the difference are. Hopefully a Prime day special on one of them.

I had a tough time finding it in the US after reading about it.

Ended up just ordering from https://smartlight.me

You’ll also need a USB A female to USB C male adapter if you want to add the Z-Wave USB to it.

How can I tell what type off sensors they are? The HSGW-G8 433MHz Vesta Wireless Alarm Panel 4G/LTE, IP and Zigbee " * Built-in Module Options: 4G/LTE, RF, ZigBee or Z-Wave" Which tells me it could be one or the other?

Take it apart.
