Zigbee Light Switch

I bought a Livolo Zigbee Smart Touch Switch from Amazon the other day intending to use it with HA as it says Zigbee.

Am I being naive expecting a Zigbee device to just work with HA? I quite like the black look and was considering replacing all my switches with these. I have only bought one at this stage and I cannot add it to the Zigbee network that has all my other stuff on. (Sensors mostly)

I have managed to eliminate all my “requires internet” devices except for a single smoke alarm.

You didnt say are you using zigbee2mqtt or zha?
Z2m have wider range of supported devices and you can see it here.
If you are in for touch switches I can say that bseed zigbee touch switches works with z2m. Also smart outlets. But look for the light switches that do not need capacitor for light.

Seems this device is quite special. Livolo TI0001 control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

These devices may not co-exist with other Zigbee devices on the same network. You may need to add a dedicated coordinator and create a new network for Livolo.

Ahh - not sure how to answer that - I have no real idea.

I use this under integrations

Thats where all the zigbee devices I have tried (until this switch) live and work.

I am using a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus and some Ikea Tradfri range extenders to move the signal from my garage (where HA is) to the house.

Apparently this is ZHA. I may not understand the difference.

I have a sonoff on the way instead. All the sonoff devices I have tried just work so far.

Shame its not black. I liked the look

You re using zha integration.
There is zigbee2mqtt addon. But this require mosquitto addon to be installed, started and to work.
You can use only one or zha as integration or zigbee2mqtt and mosquitto addons for controlling zigbee devices.

An important clarification is that it is one per coordinator.

Yes, you could probably run two coordinatosr but dont go there.
Just use what suits you best, zha or z2m.

Well ZHA is working for most of what I want. I shall just have to be more careful about what I buy.

Given that “everyone” seems to be pushing matter over thread I wonder if I should get a widgit for that so I can take advantage (if there is one) of any new devices.

Unfortunately the ZBT-2 won’t work for me (at the beginning) as the HA box is in the seperate garage and most new devices will be in the house (which is why I use Tradfri devices to mesh the Zigbee network into my house.)

That is a good start but you can also create custom quirks to support new devices.
