Good day all,
I am looking for feedback on Zigbee sensors.
So a bit of a background on my setup. I currently have Wyze sensors, 1 of which has died, which has led me to this decision.
I really enjoyed the sensors and setting up useful automations, however with the 1 being dead only a few months later, I am now growing concerned with my choice. I am thinking of replacing them or at least preparing for the eventual death of the rest and stumbled across Zigbee once again.
I have tried looking for reliability reports and have not had much success. I was initially going to go with Cc2531 and Sonoff Zigbee sensors, but I decided to do more research first and found that there are some reliability issues in the sense that they stop working or report incorrectly after some time. I have not been able to find posts like with Wyze sense V1s where there is an abundance of people reporting on the issues.
1 thing that came up very often was Aqara and/or Xiaomi and Sonoff. I am looking for people who has had long term experience with any of these to advise on their experience along with info on CC2531 perhaps.
I don’t want to buy something only for it to work for a couple of months and then start having issues with incorrect reporting on sensors or worse Mac address related failures.
I was exceptionally happy with Wyze integration into the rest of my system but am really disappointed at the prospect of future issues and would rather start looking now to replace them with things that work just as great before I am without any that works.
Your insight will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Joe,
I started Zigbee with the Aqara gateways then migrated to zigbee2mqtt.
I used to have a a CC2531-based configuration along with a few CC2530 routers and started having difficulties scaling up beyond 50 devices.
These issues disappeared when I moved to a CC2652RB coordinator and I now have 101 devices running flawlessly.
The sensor brands I would recommend are:
- Xiaomi (door/motion/temperature/wall switches) - just avoid the LLKZMK11LM, they do not last and the vibration sensor
- Blitzwolf (16A plug, 1-gang switches)
- Tuya TRV (12 radiators)
All are integrated with zigbee2mqtt.
Hope this helps!

Hey Bigramon,
Thanks a lot for these tips. It is really appreciated, especially the insight on CC2652RB.
Please confirm if the Xiaomi sensors are the same as the Aqara.

Thanks a lot again for responding and giving in sight.
They are the aqara sensors I have, mixed in some Xiaomi mi sensors for doors.
They work brilliant, as do the Xiaomi motion sensors and buttons I use extensively too. Had them all for 2 years and some are onto a second battery, some still on the original. But they are always reliable, quick to respond and always available.
I do however use them with the Xiaomi gateway as I tried zigbee2mqtt and ZHA with both a conbee2 and a CC2531 but I found their reliability to be absolutely nowhere near as good as the Xiaomi gateways unfortunately.

Thank you so much.
It is highly appreciated.
Hi Joe,
To avoid confusion with Xiaomi, the best way is to use the product reference:
- door sensor: MCCGQ01LM
- temperature/pressure/humidity sensor: WSDCGQ11LM
- wireless button: WXKG01LM
- water leak sensor: SJCGQ11LM
- smoke sensor: JTYJ-GD-01LM/BW
- wireless 2-gang switch: WXKG02LM
- bulb: ZNLDP12LM (not recommended as it tries to behave as a router as messes things up)
- cube: MFKZQ01LM (funny)
- motion sensor: RTCGQ11LM
- 2 and 3 gang switches with neutral wire: QBKG24LM and QBKG26LM (act as routers)
Have fun!
