Hello everyone,

After months of testing, comparing, and checking everything carefully, I’m sharing my full comparison of the 10 Zigbee smoke detectors currently on the market.

I put them all through a thorough test...

To save you from reading everything, here is my final ranking:

  • In the simple category (very simple) and low-cost, the winner is:
    Nous E8

  • In the full-featured category (my preference), the winning pair is:
    Frient HESZB-120 for the garage or kitchen, and Heiman HS1SA-E-PLUS for the other rooms.

Note that the Heiman HS1SA-E-PLUS is a brand-new version (which replaces the Heiman HS1SA-E); it is outstanding, and I’ll let you discover it for yourself.

Please use this topic to critique my comparison — with pleasure. I can correct mistakes; it was a lot of work. Every product tested in depth has its own article detailing its features and the Home Assistant sensors it exposes.

Hey, thank you very much for this overview. I’m in need of replacing some alarms and this spared me a bunch of time in my research.
