Thank you. Looking more closely at the switch puck, I think it’s likely that even the 1 Mini would not fit inside. I’m leaning towards the wireless switch and just teaching the family to leave the floor switch alone. I can even hide it under the sofa!

That’s frustrating for you. I just bought an Aqara Wireless Mini Switch T1 and then pushed the floor puck under the sofa.
The kids are following my dream but the issue is always the wife 
The switch is mid-air, it is an ikea floor lamp, no way to hide the switch
I have the same problem, lamps with wire switches where I want to be able to both switch on/off with the physical button and also with automation.
I´m currently looking at printing the solution @andrazk posted and using a Shelly mini inside.
The Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 is now WiFi, Zigbee and Matter, a real game changer
