Zigbee ZHA/Zigbee2MQTT clarification

Totally new to zigbee. And MQTT.

Just to make sure I’m understanding, if I want to use both ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT at the same time, then I need a separate coordinator for each? One for ZHA, and then another one for Zigbee2MQTT?

I guess the next (or first?) logical question is -can- I use ZHA and Z2M at the same time? And then any reason NOT use them at the same time?

FWIW, I currently have a SLZB-06 POE in service. I’m looking for an excuse to spend $$ on the tubeszb POE unit :joy:

Thanks!

You don’t want that. Use one or another.

Probably yes if you have two coordinators but again no. Because they will manage the same devices at the same time.
Use one or another.

Yes, if you want to use it this way, then you’ll need two coordinators.
In this case, both coordinators need to manage separate Zigbee devices.

ah ok. Using only or the other of ZHA or Z2M makes sense, and it’s kind of what I thought. But thought I’d ask anyway.

I may order the tubeszb POE anyway. The SLZB has this disturbing habit of stopping responding rather arbitrarily. Not often. Enough to be really annoying. Requires unplugging the SLZB, replugging, then reloading ZHA the SMLIGHT SLZB integration . Besides, I need a new toy anyway.

Thanks again.
