ZM25EL Roller Blind Motor— Zigbee pairing mode too short for Echo Show 8 to discover?

I’ve been trying to pair 4 x Zemismart ZM25EL motors directly to an Amazon Echo Show 8 (3rd gen, built-in Zigbee hub) via the Alexa app, without a Tuya/Zemismart gateway.

What works:

  • Motors pair fine to the ZC175A-9 9-channel RF remote using: long press Set button until beep → press top-right button on remote → confirmed with beep
  • Motors respond correctly to remote up/down/stop commands

What doesn’t work:

  • Alexa app → Devices → Add Device → Other → Zigbee → Discover
  • I press Set button 3 times (tried both quick and slow with pauses between each press per Mr.ToR’s guide)
  • Motor beeps and blue LED flashes 3 times then stops completely
  • Echo Show 8 never discovers the motor despite searching for 60+ seconds

Key observation: On the new ZM25EL hardware revision, the motor never physically jogs — it only beeps. The “short up-and-down movement” described in Mr.ToR’s excellent guide doesn’t happen. I suspect the pairing window on the new hardware is extremely short — maybe 5 seconds — which isn’t long enough for the Echo Show 8 to complete the handshake.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully paired a ZM25EL directly to an Echo Show 8 Zigbee hub?
  2. Is the very short pairing window (3 blinks then off) a known issue with newer hardware revisions?
  3. Is there any way to extend the Zigbee pairing window on these motors?
  4. Or is the ZM25EL effectively locked to Tuya’s own Zigbee hub implementation?

Happy to share more details. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. I’m not sure how your issue relates to Home Assistant.

The Echo Show 8 does not function as a zigbee coordinator inside Home Assistant (none of the Echo series are supported zigbee coordinators). Therefore the chances of finding someone here who can help you are slim to none.

You might be better off asking this question in the Amazon forums.
