I sometimes want to create a zone from the geo data from exif data from pictures taken.
When creating a zone from the UI you have the option to enter coordinates. But doing that makes the zone editing crash (at least for me) making all zones show my home position. I suspect when doing it from my home the map shows of course my home, and when entering coordinates there is a conflict with my home position and the coordinates entered. I suggest there should be a button after the coordinate fields marked for example "Go!" to make the mini map show the location for the coordinates. Hopefully this will eliminate the error with creating.
This is a feature request and belongs on GitHub.
But you can also create zones in the YAML file.
Perhaps that is easier for you if you copy paste coordinates?
Being at home has nothing to do with it. The map will move around as you type in lat & long.
Just tried it on my install and gave it the coordinates for Hawaii. The map pointer moved correctly without having to drag it by mouse.
Got a sample of this data you are feeding into HA, and a screenshot of what you see in the map when you type it in before hitting Create?
