After my Domoticz crashed I moved to home assistant. Moved my Zwave stick to my new installation and the Zwave integration found all my devices again. However, not controllable.
Whichever device I flip the switch or anything, I get error codes. This was all 2 years ago and I had kind of written off my Zwave network and functionality.
Until I installed the Zwave JS add-on this weekend and BAM, this control panel finds all my devices again ánd I can control them as if nothing happened since two years.
My problem is, that the devices from the Z-Wave JS add-on are not discoverable in home assistant, I only see the devices from the Zwave integration which still give me the errors and I can’t do anything with them.
How can I make my uncontrollable devices in the Zwave integration work again, or, how can I use the controllable devices from the Z-Wave JS add-on in my scenes?
Without providing more information about your configuration we’ll have to make guesses. To me it sounds like you are using both of the add-ons at the same time, which will not work.
You can switch between the official Z-Wave JS add-on and the Z-Wave JS UI add-on. However, but you cannot run them both at the same time. Only one of them can be active at the same time.
Thanks for your answer. I think I explained that I first used the Zwave integration and I have been trying to get it running for almost 2 years, without succes. Even after rebuilding the network, the make the network healthy again functions etcetera, the devices wouldn’t respond.
Last weekend I installed the Zwave JS UI add on and suddenly my devices did work.
Yes, I still have both installed. Is what you are saying, that I should remove the non-working Zwave integration, because the Z-Wave JS add-on does work? And continue to use the Z-Wave JS add-on?
Remind that the Z-Wave JS add-on readme says you can switch between the two. But I prefer to just use the standard Zwave integration.
Now, reading through the switching documentation, I do remember when setting up the Z-Wave JS add-on, I created new random keys. And now it’s working there.
Should I copy those keys to the Zwave integration? (the manual you referred to doing that, but the other way around, from Zwave integration to Z-Wave JS add-on).
You are confusing integrations and add-ons. There is only one Z-Wave integration. It connects to one of the add-ons, and only one add-on can run at the same time.
The add-ons use identical software, so if the network works in one, it will work in the other. If you are using different security keys you should configure them correctly in whichever add-on you want to use. Whatever you do, don’t use both add-ons, pick one.
When i set up the Z-Wave JS add-on, i made new security keys. I can see the keys in the control panel of the Z-Wave JS add-on, but i cannot find the keys in the Zwave integration to update that one with the ones from Z-Wave JS add-on.
I’m lost.
I want to make some scenes with all my devices which work under the Z-Wave JS add-on, but they do not work in the devices list. The 33 devices that are in the devices list, are coupled to the Zwave integration and those devices won’t work.
Whenever i click any switch of the devices in the Zwave integration, i get this error message:
Blockquote
Failed to perform the action switch/turn_off. Unable to set value 52-37-2-targetValue: zwave_error: Z-Wave error 202 - Failed to send the message after 3 attempts (ZW0202)
To be clear, i now understand there are two add-ons. I do not use the Z-Wave JS UI one which can be installed via the community store, but the official add-on Z-Wave JS (as you can see in the screenshot).
You surely want to use the JS UI version to get the nice additional UI. Keep that and uninstall the non UI version if you have that. The UI version is so much more advanced and nice to work with. And it uses same code to talk to the devices snd maintained by same team
In HA you probably need to remove and readd the Zwave integration or reconfigure, so it points to the correct Zwave JS IO instance.
It’s exactly as I said in my first post. You are using two add-ons at the same time and the integration is configured for the core add-on. Running both add-ons at the same time means they conflict and cause havoc. If you don’t want to use Z-Wave JS UI (I don’t know why you wouldn’t), then delete that add-on, otherwise refer above for the migration guide to switch to Z-Wave JS UI.
OK, this is really helping. I never checked the Settings → Addons route. Now i see that i indeed have two addons installed.
Anyways…sorry for the confusion. Just to make it clear and prevent confusion:
Integration: Zwave
Addon1: Zwave JS
Addon2: Zwave JS UI
Both Addons were active. The integration talked with Addon1: Zwave JS, which wasn’t working. I want the integration to talk to Addon2: Zwave JS UI, because the devices in Zwave JS UI do work.
When i follow the procedure which was linked, and add the Integration again after disabling it, i get this error:
Apparantly the standard URL is not right, but i can’t find the correct one of the Addon2: Zwave JS UI in the settings. Does anyone of you know the correct URL of the UI addon or where i can find it?
