I have a Monoprice door sensor (HANK Electronics Ltd HKZW-DWS01 Door/Window Sensor) that suddenly won’t update its state anymore. Only mention in the log is that the node is marked asleep. Node information shows it stuck in Initializing (Probe). When I open the door the led on the sensor blinks. I tried testing/healing/refreshing the node, restarting z-wave, HA, rebooting the host, pressing the button on the sensor, but nothing helps. Anyone have an idea what to do next?
What do you mean it won’t update? are you saying the binary-sensor never changes state when operated?
Do you see anything in the OZW log?
that’s normal. Mine stay in those states almost constantly.
If it won’t work at all you should try to unpair/pair it again. You’ll probably have to factory reset it to do that tho along with all that entails.
Sorry for the late reply, but whenever I tried the site was read-only.
The binary sensor never really worked for me with this sensor. I use a template sensor based on the value of access_control. But no property of the sensor updates at all. No mention of the sensor in the log (24+h long) at all , only that it is asleep or the neighbor of another sensor.
In the end I bit the bullet and followed your advice and force removed the sensor which was a bit more involved as the sensor refused to be deleted from Homeassistant (despite marking it as failed, removing it, deleting every mention in the .storage
directory, restarting HA twice). Turns out there still was a mention in the zwcfg_*.xml
file I had to remove as well.
However even re-added, the sensor worked for a few hours then started its shenanigans again. I changed batteries, but to no avail. I am going to chuck it. This is the second sensor of that model that failed on me so no more Monoprice door sensors for me.
