Zwave repeater flooding network

I am trying to get a zwave signal to devices in a detached garage, the garage isn’t too far away from the house (about 2 meters) however it is mostly underground and made entirely of concrete. I’ve found that with one device at the closest corner of the garage I get an intermittent response, so I thought the best bet would be to put a repeater at the closest corner of the house to bridge the gap and reinforce the network.

To that end I purchased a pair of Aeotec Range Extender 6 modules (1 for the garage, 1 for the house) and figured this would bridge my gap. Both repeaters pair fine to the zwave network, however I looked at my OZW_Log.txt this morning, and it was over 10MB in size, and none of my Z-Wave devices were responding to commands. I opened OZW_Log.txt with tail -f and it was scrolling so fast I couldn’t read anything. Here’s a sample, but note that this repeated text goes on for 10MB of log!. Node027 is the repeater in the house:

I thought maybe the repeater was faulty, so I factory reset it, removed it, and tried the other one, but I got exactly the same result as soon as I hit refresh node.

Any ideas on what’s going on? and what can be done about it?

Does that device (“node 27”) work fine and without “flooding” if you bring it close to the controller? It seems to me that your controller keeps asking for members of group 2 and keeps getting replies about members of group 1. This does not sound like a communication problem if the replies are indeed coming from “node 27”. Either there’s some problem with your repeaters mangling the message (in which case you might try updating their firmware - I see a recent update on the Aeotec site, your devices almost certainly have something older inside), or “node 27” might not even have a “group 2” (but declare that in some ambiguous way) and it might be stupid enough to disregard which group it’s being asked for (in which case the exact same thing should happen up-close to the controller, hence my question - if this is the case all you can do is buy a smarter “node 27”). I am having the same issue (n/w message flood). Did upgrading the repeater’s firmware help?

I ended up returning both repeaters and installing a zwave light switch in that corner of the house to serve the same purpose (and automate my outdoor light at the same time). I had a third identical repeater that is in the garage and it seems to be fine.
